A strong earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale,
hit Bali island in Indonesia this morning,
the Malaysian Meteorological Department said.
It said in a statement that the quake, which occurred at 11.16 am,
struck the south of the island, 154km southwest of Denpasar and
1,350km southeast of Kuching, Sarawak. -- BERNAMA
